Environmental and Health Protection Inspector at Årjäng Municipality

Årjäng Municipality is a proud growth municipality with a belief in the future. We face challenges with confidence and courage together in collaboration. There is room here for new people and new ideas to take root. Those of us who live, work, and visit Årjäng Municipality often say that everything that matters is close by.

Do you want to take the next step in your career? Are you interested in the combination of environmental and health protection issues, legislation, development, and service? Then we might be your next employer.

We are looking for a new colleague who wants to be part of our team at the Building and Environmental Unit in Årjäng. You will work closely with other environmental and health protection inspectors and building permit administrators. The Building and Environmental Unit is part of the Community Building Department where we have fun at work and enjoy good cohesion and well-being. We hope you want to become one of us!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The work involves exercising authority, primarily supported by the Environmental Code. In your role as an environmental and health protection inspector, you will perform inspections, make delegation decisions, and prepare decision materials for the Building and Environmental Board, as well as provide information, guidance, and advice to both the public and businesses. We collaborate with other authorities and are part of the Environmental Cooperation of Värmland and Örebro counties.

In environmental protection, the tasks involve supervising environmentally hazardous activities such as workshops, industries, and gas stations. In health protection, the work involves supervising various activities and premises such as schools and preschools, multi-family houses, indoor environments, and swimming pools. An important part of the work is also to handle permit issues related to individual sewage facilities. In addition to environmental and health protection issues, nature conservation issues in project form, as well as water care and water sampling, are also recurring tasks we work with. Digitalization and GIS work are also part of the unit's work.

The work is varied and involves both office and fieldwork. We have close access to political leadership and decision-makers, and we are involved in projects that affect several different activities within the municipality.

Since the work requires many contacts with operators and the public, it is beneficial if you are outgoing, positive, and have an easy time expressing yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. As a person, you are meticulous and have the ability to complete what you have started. You enjoy collaborating but also thrive in independently driving work forward. It is advantageous if you have knowledge and experience of current legislation.

There is an opportunity to adapt the content of the position based on your experience and interests, as other tasks within the environmental unit's area of responsibility may also become relevant if the need arises.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has post-secondary education with a focus on environmental and health protection, or has other education or work experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • Has a good ability to collaborate, but also the ability to independently drive work forward
  • Enjoys driving development work
  • Enjoys having contact with many different kinds of people
  • Has the ability to build trusting relationships, both within and outside an organization
  • Has knowledge and experience of current legislation
  • Valid B driver's license

Warm welcome with your application!
